Scholar Spotlight: Pop-Up Shop Organized by Aaliyah Wilkinson

At the August 2 SWNA Scholarship event, Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) Pastor Ruth Hamilton heard that scholarship recipient Aaliyah Wilkinson had hopes of doing event planning.  WPC wanted to be supportive of her and offered its sanctuary space for free so she could try an event, one of WPC's first public events in the COVID era. On Sunday, August 30, Aaliyah organized a Pop-Up Shop featuring 18 different tables of products made and sold by young Black DC residents-- many, like Aaliyah, from SW.  It was a great success and wonderful SW partnership.
